Deciding

Framing a problem and deciding

Opportunities hold the problem, what supports it, what is unknown, and the decision.

An opportunity is a problem worth solving, stated in your own words, with the insights and evidence that support it attached.

Open questions

List what you still need to find out, and answer them in place as you learn. An opportunity is ready to decide when it has support, every question is answered, and it has an owner — the page works that out for you.

Recording the decision

  • Keep investigating — the opportunity stays active and your note becomes the next thing to learn.
  • Commit as a bet — creates a draft bet and carries the evidence across.
  • Stop for now — it leaves active work, with the reason kept.
  • Park for later — set aside, still visible, easy to reopen.

Every decision needs a reason, and nothing is overwritten: the history shows what was decided, by whom, and when.
